SPICY TOFU BITES (adding sauce before)

  • Extra Firm Tofu - 1 block

Vegan Hot Sauce - 1 bottle

Garlic Powder - 1 small bottle

    Cornstarch - 1 box

Directions

  1. This recipe tastes the best when using frozen and thawed tofu, although it's not essential if you're short on time. Thaw your frozen tofu overnight in the refrigerator for optimal results, or quickly thaw it under hot water if you're in a hurry.

  2. Start by opening a block of tofu after it’s had time to thaw.

  3. Lay the block of tofu flat, and cut it in half lengthwise.

  4. Next, flip each half with the cut edge facing up, and slice lengthwise into thirds.

  5. Flip the tofu over on its side, so the cut layers are stacked. Then, slice into thirds to make squares. If you like, you can also make a diagonal cut on each square to make triangles. Both are great shapes for dipping the tofu easily into the sauce.

  6. In a bowl, combine ¼ cup (56g) of hot sauce, ½ teaspoon (2g) of garlic powder, and 1 tablespoon (8g) of cornstarch. Mix and add the tofu cubes. Toss to combine. If your tofu is particularly absorbent, add more hot sauce as needed to coat.

  7. Use tongs to add them to the air fryer.

  8. Air fry at 400° F (205° C) for 12-14 minutes or until crispy.

  9. When the tofu is done, add the cubes back to the bowl and toss in the sauce. Serve with Silken Tofu Ranch and celery sticks.

    Liquid Aminos - 1 bottle

Both are great shapes for dipping the tofu easily into the sauce, like the silken tofu ranch we’ll be making later.

  6. Put the squared tofu in a bowl and toss with 2 tablespoons of liquid aminos and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Add them to your air fryer. Air fry at 400 degrees Fahrenheit (204 degrees Celsius) for 12-14 minutes or until crispy. Then make the sauce while that cooks.

  7. In the same bowl, combine ¼ cup (56g) of hot sauce and ½ teaspoon (2g) of garlic powder.

  8. When the tofu is done, add the cubes back to the bowl and toss in the sauce. Serve with Silken Tofu Ranch and celery sticks.
