From Struggle to Strength: How VSA Transformed My Health and Confidence

Hi, my name is Brooke, and I want to share my personal journey that led me to join the Vegan Superhero Academy program. It has been a transformative experience, and I hope my story inspires you to take the leap toward your own health and fitness goals.

About five and a half years ago, I made the decision to go vegan. At the time, I was seventy pounds overweight, having gained that weight after having four children. I was feeling physically and mentally drained, and I knew I needed a change. Going plant-based was something I felt called to try, and the results were incredible. I lost seventy pounds and kept it off for four years.

Everything seemed to be going well, but as I hit my mid-thirties, things started to change. Within a year, I gained fifteen pounds, and I felt like my body was spiraling out of control. The fear of returning to where I had started was overwhelming. I tried to seek help but struggled to find anyone who understood my plant-based lifestyle, especially living in the South where veganism is far from common.

I spoke to coaches at gyms and even joined CrossFit, but no one could offer the guidance I needed. Feeling lost and unsure of what to do, I turned to my husband for support. After doing some research, he discovered the VSA program and suggested we look into it.

When we got on the initial call with a VSA coach, I immediately felt a connection. The program offered everything I had been searching for, coaching, community, and support tailored to my plant-based lifestyle. My husband, who has never struggled with his weight and has always been incredibly fit, was so impressed that he decided to join with me. Having him by my side on this journey has been an incredible source of support.

Before joining, I had felt so alone in my struggles. I needed someone who understood the challenges of being plant-based and could help me navigate my hormonal changes, my fitness plateau, and my frustrations. The VSA program provided exactly that.

I will admit, I was skeptical at first. I had tried countless programs in the past, and I always felt like the one person they did not work for. The financial commitment also gave me pause, but after speaking with the team, I realized this was more than just a program, it was a complete solution to the challenges I had been facing.

What impressed me most was the emphasis on long-term success. The coaches made it clear that the goal was to equip me with tools and knowledge so I could eventually succeed on my own. That promise gave me the confidence to take the leap.

The VSA program has truly changed my life. One of the pivotal moments for me was a conversation with my coach, Megan, about my eating habits. For twenty years, I had been obsessively counting calories and adjusting my intake based on how many calories I burned during workouts. Megan helped me understand that my body thrives on consistency, and that mindset shift completely transformed how I approached food.

Early on, I lost five pounds but then hit a plateau. Having the support and accountability of the VSA community kept me motivated, and with Megan’s guidance, I pushed through the challenges. Over time, I learned to listen to my body and practice intuitive eating, which has been incredibly freeing.

In the gym, I have seen strength gains I never thought possible. I went from struggling to back squat seventy pounds to lifting nearly two hundred and fifty pounds. Those moments of growth have been empowering, and they remind me of my high school days when I felt strong and athletic.

After completing my initial three months in the program, I decided to commit to a full year. The progress I have made, physically, mentally, and emotionally, has been worth every penny and every moment of effort. I am more confident, stronger, and better equipped to handle life’s challenges.

One of the most valuable lessons I have learned is the importance of investing in myself. Taking the time and resources to focus on my health has allowed me to be a better wife, mother, and friend. As my coach reminded me, sometimes it is okay to rest and give yourself grace. That balance has made all the difference.

If you are considering joining the VSA program, my advice is simple, do it. Investing in yourself now will save you from larger challenges down the road. The support, tools, and community you will gain are invaluable, and the program is designed to help you become self-sufficient in your journey.

Hard things help us grow, and the VSA program is an opportunity to stretch yourself and discover what you are truly capable of. Take that first step, and you will not regret it.

I am so thankful I decided to join VSA, and I know the lessons I have learned will stay with me for the rest of my life. My journey is not over, but I am confident in the path I am on and the tools I have gained to continue moving forward.

To anyone reading this, I encourage you to invest in yourself and let your own journey begin. You are worth it.
