Coach Sarah’s Story

Sarah has been a Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor for over 20 years. She’s also held a variety of Fitness Nutrition Certifications, is a certified Indoor Cycling teacher, and is a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher.

She didn’t grow up as an athlete or play sports of any kind, so learning to navigate fitness as an adult is her specialty. Sarah loves to help people find physical activities and exercise that they enjoy doing and can stick with long-term. 

Despite her limited athletic background, Sarah has run a marathon, several half marathons, completed multiple triathlons, placed in a bench press competition, and was even recruited to be on the Ramstein US Airforce Base Power Lifting team! (They needed women and the team had seen Sarah lifting in the base gym – she won her weight class, earning the team some much-needed points!) She’s also competed in a figure competition and loves to try new physical challenges.

Sarah was vegetarian on and off for most of her adult life, finally committing to it fully in 2019, and then vegan in 2022. Her daughter led the way – she’s been vegan for about five years. Now the whole family is vegan, and they’ve never been happier or healthier! Sarah went vegan for the animals, her husband for the environment, and her daughter for health, so they’ve got a lot of vegan ground covered.

She lives outside of Washington DC now, but Sarah is originally from San Diego, CA, and has lived in North Carolina, Texas, Ohio, New York, and Chicago. The family also lived in Germany for just over 4 years. Expect a move from them in the next year or so!

While her graduate work was in Kinesiology with an Exercise Science concentration, Sarah’s undergraduate degree is in Music Theatre with minors in Dance and English Literature. She’s worked in professional theatre since 1995 across the United States, as well as in Germany and even a couple of shows in England! 

In her spare time, Sarah hosts a podcast called Your Chakra Coach that talks about emotional, mental, and physical wellness from a yogic perspective. She believes that these aspects of health are inseparable and coaches to the whole person. Sarah also loves to read and travel.
